What's Happening Liverpool

Opportunities from Liverpool's wellbeing and creative communities

Free Poetry Reading in Greenbank Park

Sun Sep 25 2022 at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Join us for an hour long live reading of Poets for Peace with a number of poets from the project.

Poets for Peace is a project by a group of local poets who came together to work on a new community project all about peace.

Organised by writer and comedian John Gorman, the poets have created an online anthology of peace-themed poems.

John, who was once part of the comedy music group The Scaffold in the 1960s, wants Liverpool to be known as a city of peace, and is working towards organising live performances and events leading up to International Peace Day on September 21.

Famous Mersey Beat Poet Brian Patten also contributed with his own unique view on the subject as an ambassador for peace.

Eight poets from the Poets for Peace project will be reading their work. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy some poetry in the park.

This is a free event but we'll be taking donations for Al-Sabeen Children's Hospital in Yemen.
